Rakhi Pancholi, a two-term MLA and lawyer, announced she will run for the leadership of the Alberta NDP with aspirations to become the next Premier of Alberta. With over thirteen years of legal experience, including roles in senior advisory positions for Education and Justice, Rakhi has advocated for issues such as universal childcare and equitable education funding during her tenure.

Raised in south Edmonton, she holds degrees in political science and law from the University of Alberta and the University of Toronto, respectively, and has volunteered for various causes, including community legal centers and women's advocacy organizations.

Rakhi's candidacy is framed around her belief in building a future full of opportunities for Albertans, drawing on her experiences both locally and abroad. In her campaign launch, Rakhi emphasized her commitment to inclusivity, progress, and the potential for positive change in Alberta.
