The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) is currently investigating an officer-involved shooting near Bonnyville, Alberta. The incident took place on Feb. 9 when RCMP officers responded to reports of a male acting violently inside a home on an acreage. Upon arrival, an interaction occurred and one officer discharged their service firearm, causing serious injuries to the male.

The officers provided emergency medical care before the male was transported to the hospital. ASIRT's investigation will focus on examining the use of force by the officers involved, and they are seeking information from anyone who may have details about the incident. ASIRT is responsible for independently and objectively investigating incidents involving Alberta's police that have resulted in serious injury or death to any person, as well as serious or sensitive allegations of police misconduct. The investigation is ongoing, and ASIRT is urging individuals with information about the incident to contact.
