Stampeders look to halt two-game skid as winless Redblacks visit McMahon
By Calgary Dispatch News Desk ·
The Calgary Stampeders return to McMahon Stadium Saturday evening looking to stop a two-game losing streak and keep their playoff hopes alive against the winless Ottawa Redblacks. Calgary enters the matchup at 5-8, while Ottawa sits at 0-12 at the bottom of the East Division. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. MT.
The Stampeders are coming off a difficult two-game stretch against Edmonton, including a 53-16 loss to the Elks last weekend. Calgary’s offence nevertheless has several productive individual performances to build around: quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. leads the club with 25 touchdown passes, Dedrick Mills has rushed for 943 yards, and Jalen Philpot has recorded 797 receiving yards.
Saturday is also Calgary’s Indigenous Celebration game, with Indigenous drummers and dancers scheduled to perform before the game and at halftime, while Dilayna Blackhorse will sing the national anthem in Blackfoot. On the field, though, the stakes are straightforward: after falling to 5-8, Calgary has little margin remaining if it wants to stay in the CFL playoff race.
