Coronato records four points as Flames defeat Seattle 6–2
By Calgary Dispatch Newsroom ·
Matt Coronato recorded his first four-point NHL game Friday night, scoring once and adding three assists as the Calgary Flames defeated the Seattle Kraken 6–2 at the Scotiabank Saddledome. Joel Farabee contributed a goal and two assists, while Morgan Frost and Matvei Gridin each registered a goal and an assist. Dustin Wolf stopped 20 shots. The victory improved Calgary to 6–7–0 and extended its home winning streak to five games, continuing a remarkable turnaround after the team opened the season with five consecutive defeats.
The Flames took control in the second period after entering the frame tied 1–1. Aydar Suniev, Gridin and Farabee scored in a span that moved Calgary ahead 4–1 before Seattle narrowed the margin. Coronato's third-period goal restored a three-goal cushion, and Ryan Strome added the final score. The result was especially notable because Seattle had beaten Calgary 6–1 in each of the clubs' first two meetings this season. Wolf's performance also mattered with Devin Cooley on injured reserve following a lower-body injury sustained against Edmonton.
Calgary has now won five of its last six games, but remains below .500 and faces another test on the road against Colorado on Halloween night. The encouraging sign is that contributions are coming from multiple young and veteran forwards rather than one scoring line. The Flames will need to sustain that balance and defend more consistently against stronger opponents. Coronato's career night illustrates how much the team's offensive confidence has changed since its difficult opening week.
